YIS Sephardic Minyan
YIS Sephardic Minyan
The Sephardic Minyan at the Young Israel of Scarsdale was established over 40 years ago as the 1st Sephardic congregation in Westchester County. We meet in the chapel at the Young Israel of Scarsdale on Shabbat, Yom Tob and the Yamim Noraim, offering lively services in our Sephardic tradition followed by a kiddush with a middle eastern flair. Our children are encouraged to continue our traditions by attending and participating in Tefilot and reading the Torah.
Services are lay-led by congregants, who are always welcome to participate as the Hazan or Baal Koreh. The community includes families and individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds including from Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Iraq & Iran. We remain tightly integrated into the fabric of the Young Israel of Scarsdale, as our families and children grow together and participate in communal celebrations, shiurim & simachot within the greater community. The minyan is regularly visited by Rabbi Morgenstern & Rabbi Klinger who deliver inspiring Dibre Torah on Shabbat and Yom Tob.
We look forward to continued growth of our minyan. Please reach out to us for more information at: mdpeds@aol.com
