Career Advancement Committee
The Young Israel of Scarsdale Career Advancement Committee was formed in response to the growing number of people in the community who are facing unemployment or underemployment and the issues that surround that problem. Each committee member contributes his/her own unique set of skills, experience and connections, that, when blended together, result in an effective coalition driven towards a singular goal.
The committee’s primary goal is to act as a conduit to help identify job opportunities and facilitate networking amongst our shul members. We hope to draw on the extensive professional diversity and expertise within the YIS community to assist those congregants who need our help. The committee will maintain a confidential database of job seekers and job postings which will serve to facilitate introductions amongst our shul members. The committee will also host networking events and work with such committees of other local shuls to leverage our networking resources and coordinate shared events.
Additionally, the committee will direct those in need of our assistance to a number of helpful resources, including links to a variety of websites and organizations that might assist our members in finding employment and guidance. To that end, the committee has created the “Employment Initiative” tab in this website, where many of these useful resources may be found.
The Young Israel of Scarsdale Career Advancement Committee hopes to raise awareness amongst the members of our shul for those looking FOR help and those looking TO help.
