Boruch has been leading our youth department since February 2006 when he moved to Scarsdale with his 2 children; Menucha and Yeshaya.Boruch grew up in Brooklyn and at age 18 began his yeshiva studies in Israel, learning in various Yeshivot for several years, including Aish Hatorah and Ohr Somayach. He completed several training courses and programs in Jewish Education and outreach, receiving certification in Jewish Education from Torah Educators Institute in 1996.In 1999, he moved to California where he taught Judaic studies for 3 years at the Hebrew Academy of San Francisco, initiated and ran the San Francisco Chapter of NCSY and ran several outreach programs for the less affiliated. In 2002 he accepted the position as the youth director of Beth Jacob Congregation in San Diego. He created and ran very exciting and innovative programming, building his skills and repertoire of Shul Youth Programming.
Since moving to Scarsdale he has been utilizing his extensive training and experience to meet the needs and opportunities of creative Youth Programming at YIS while always looking for new and creative ways to surpass the objectives of running an exceptional Youth Department. His working philosophy can be summarized in that Judaism and our experience with it is a gift from G-d, to help us grow and lead happy and fulfilled lives. As such it is the obligation of all involved with passing the torch on to the next generation, to create an environment of learning and living Judaism that appeals to our, and our children’s, sense of enjoyment and potential for greatness and happiness unique to each individual.
Boruch makes himself available to be of assistance to individuals and families in any capacity that he can be of service and always welcomes comment and suggestion.
