The Young Israel of Scarsdale

Reb Simcha Willig

as our Rabbinic intern and High Holiday co-officiant 

 

Born and raised in Riverdale, New York, Simcha Willig attended Yeshiva University High School and Yeshivat Kerem B'yavneh before studying for three years at the Ner Israel Rabbinical College in Baltimore, Maryland where he received his Bachelor's degree in Talmudic Law. He is currently learning for his Semikhah at YU, and is simultaneously earning a Master's degree from the Azrieli School of Jewish Education and Administration. Over the past four years, Simcha has been a visiting scholar in many communities throughout the world, including Charleston, South Carolina, Overland Park, Kansas, Scottsdale, Arizona, Boynton Beach, Florida, Columbus, Ohio, Providence, Rhode Island, and Cape Town. Simcha also shared a special, unique, and close relationship with Rabbi Rubenstein z”l. We look forward to feeling Reb Simcha’s warmth and hearing his insights into the Torah and the  world through out this coming year.

Reb Chaim Axelrod

Reb Chaim Axelrod grew up in Kew Gardens Hills, the youngest of five siblings.  He attended the Davis Renov Stahler Yeshiva High School for Boys, and then spent two years studying in Israel at Yeshivat Shaalvim.  He then went on to Yeshiva University's Sy Syms School of Business where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Finance.  He is currently in his last year of Semikhah at YU, and is also completing a Master's degree in Jewish Education at the Azrieli School of Jewish Education and Administration.  Currently, Chaim is a member of the YU-Ramaz Kollel.  Chaim in married to Yael, and they are the proud parents of Dovi and Akiva.  Chaim and his family live in Washington Heights, and look forward to getting to know the YIS Family.
